Third Test Day 1, The Adelaide Oval

Flags at half mast at the ground. I thought the silence at the start of the day was very moving.

I grabbed a video of the first ball hoping that Archer would do a Starc and take a wicket early

First ball of the day

A scorcher today. I thought we acquitted ourselves reasonably well,we started well, after Carse decided that bowling 7 ball overs was a bad idea, and Archer was consistently quick over his 16 overs and 3 wickets for not many runs was just reward. The rest of the bowling was very average at best, and we don't seem capable of keeping pressure on both ends with accurate pace, or tying down one end with spin. or bowling to the set field, but apart from that, all good. What we don't want to happen is for the last 2 wickets to add another 70 runs, but with Starc still in that is a possibility.

Readers of the blog wil recall the discussion on the accuracy of snicko, regarding Jamie Smiths dismissal in the first Test, and we had another issue today with  Carey admitting he hit the ball but BBG the Snicko operator admitting that the technician picked the wtong stump mic. Personally I think there are questions to be asked abou the repeatability an reproducibility of Snicko, that it warrants some academic research

The sound wave of Carey's edge

Finally I did manage to grab a pic of Bradman's statue which I failed to get when I visited the ground a couple of weeks ago

Sir Don Bradman
